Traidores - Los Guaraguao

Traidores

Los Guaraguao

los guaraguaoHello followers! Sorry I’ve been sort of MIA on the song of the day, I was out of town for a while and didn’t have easy internet access for much of the trip. We should be back on a regular schedule for at least the next week and a half.

Anyway, today we’re going to revisit our friends Los Guaraguao from Venezuela, by listening to their song “Traidores” (Traitors). It’s a short one with awesomely agitational lyrics that call out the oligarchy on their evil bullshit. I’m in a very “burn the ruling class at the stake” sort of mood, and it also didn’t help that I couldn’t get the first two Los Guaraguao songs that I tried translated correctly. So here we are.

Nothing really out of the ordinary for the first half of the song, but the second half uses a lot of slang so I took some poetic license with it. Enjoy!

SPANISH:

Traidores!
Que andan de rodillas por dinero
vende patria, viles traicioneros
lacayos rastreros del gran invasor

Traidores!
Porque al pueblo siempre lo engañaron
lo burlaron y discriminaron
y lo asesinaron en calles y prisiones

Y lo son
porque anhelan con toda su alma
ver la bota imperial con sus armas
pisándole el alma a nuestra nación

Y son
sin vergüenzas, malinches, confesos
han perdido el honor y por eso
venden por un peso nuestra dignidad

Traidores!
No podrán ensuciarle la historia
a esta patria tan llena de gloria
sagrada memoria del libertador

Traidores!

ahora viven llorando y pidiendo cacao

ahora viven llorando y pidiendo cacao
colorín, colorao
hasta hoy la jodienda se les ha acabao
colorín, colorín, colorao

ENGLISH:

Traitors!
You live on your knees for money,
sell-outs, vile betrayers,
lackeys of the great invader

Traitors!
Because you’ve always cheated the people,
you mocked and discriminated,
and murdered them in the streets and prisons

And you are traitors
because you long with all your hearts
to see the empire’s boot
step on the soul of our country

And you are
shameless, self-professed malinches*
You have no honor which is why
You sell out our dignity for a dime

Traitors!
You can’t corrupt the history
of this country, full of glory,
the sacred memory of the Liberator**

Traitors!
You will live with your desires and tears
but you will never return
to oppress the people, you will never return!

And you are traitors
because you long with all their hearts
to see the empire’s boot
step on the soul of our country

And you are
shameless, self-professed malinches
you have no honor which is why
you sell out our dignity for a dime

Colorin, colora’o
Today the fucking around is over!
Colorin, colorin, colora’o
The people have commanded that you not return!
Colorin, colora’o
The people you oppressed have been liberated!
Colorin, colorin, colora’o
The people now know who you are, bacalao salao***!
Colorin, colora’o
You now live crying and humiliated
Colorin, colorin, colora’o
The people are pissed off and revolutionized
Colorin, colora’o
We’ll watch the oligarchs run away
Colorin, colorin, colora’o
You and your media have been caught red-handed!
Colorin, colora’o
The people now know who you are, bacalao salao!
Colorin, colorin, colora’o
You now live crying and humiliated!
